He jerked awake with a gasp for breath. Another damn nightmare. And he knew from past experience that he wasn't going to sleep any more tonight.

He threw the twisted sheets to the foot of the bed and got up. After dressing in his usual suit, he slipped his sunglasses on and left his apartment to walk the night away.

He wandering aimlessly, but wasn't really surprised that he ended up outside Peter's apartment building. He didn't even need to count the windows to know which was his friend's apartment. He had already memorized the layout from the other times he had stood here, alone in the night, silently watching.

"So, are you going to tell me why you're staring at my apartment?"

Kermit whirled to see Peter giving the older man a curious look.

"I was out for a walk and just stopped here," Kermit replied with a shrug. "What are you doing up at this late hour?"

"I woke up," Peter replied, giving Kermit an intense look. "However, this isn't the first night you've stood here, staring at my apartment. Give."

Kermit's face was impassive behind his sunglasses. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"I know you've been staring at my building for at least two nights, maybe more. So, want to tell me what's wrong?"

"Nothing's wrong. I already told you, I'm out walking and just stopped."

"Right," Peter replied as Kermit began to walk off. "I'll give you a little more time to work it out for yourself, Kermit. Then, if you haven't, we're going to talk."

Kermit snorted as he faded into the shadows where he seemed most comfortable.
