Kermit glared down at the gaily wrapped box on his desk before bending down to check it over for tale-tell signs the box was rigged to explode.

"It's safe, Kermit," Peter said from the doorway, exasperated.

"How do you know that?" Kermit replied, suspicious.

"Because, I'm watched it being wrapped and I put it on your desk. Now, open your birthday present."

"It's not my birthday."

"I know that. I also know that you deleted the date of your birthday from the records. So, when I saw this, I bought it for you and decided to give it to you as a late or early birthday gift."

Kermit picked the present up and carefully tore the wrapping paper off. opening the lid revealed a piece of tissue paper. "What I've always wanted. Green tissue paper."

"Pull the tissue paper up. The present's under the paper," Peter said, shaking his head.

Kermit pulled the paper away and suddenly went still. He pulled his present out of the box and stared at it for a minute before he looked up at his lover. "If we were in private..."

"But, we aren't," Peter grinned before running off.

Kermit carefully pulled the beanie baby frog out of its box and put it in a place of honor on top of his monitor before going off to get his first cup of coffee.
