"What is going on?" Relena asked, finally figuring out that something was happening.
"There are intruders in the building," Duo replied, keeping an eye on the corridor they were poised at entering.
"How…"
"Does it matter?" Duo interrupted. "Choose."
"Fine. I will do what you say. But, rest assured, Heero, and your supervisors, will hear about the abominal way you are treating me."
Duo snorted before grabbing the blonde woman by her wrist. "Sure, princess. I’m scared."
"You should be," Relena spat out, allowing herself to be led at a trot down the hall. "Cad."
'She just called me a cad?!' Duo thought, shaking his head. 'Next, she’ll be trying to get Heero to duel me in her honor. Twit.' Stopping at a pair of heavy, wooden double doors, he took a deep breath and reached out with his senses. Feeling no-one recently dead or slated to die in the next few minutes in the hallway beyond the doors, he repositioned his gun so he could push the door open without dropping Relena’s wrist.
Duo dropped the girl’s wrist. 'If we can get to the garage, we can use a vehicle to get away. I know a place we can go."
The retreat through the mansion's halls was quick, and they were only a few feet from the garage when they met their enemy.
"Well, Ms. Relena," A silibant voice said from the shadows ahead of them, causing the Duo’s to point his gun in that general direction. "We finally caught up with you." A cloaked figure glided from the shadows and gave a half-bow.
"Who are you?" Relena demanded.
"Does it matter?" the figure replied, a smile evident in his tone.
"Not really," Duo replied before Relena could. "But, you will let us leave."
"When we’ve come so close to our goal? I think not." The figure lowered his hood, to reveal pure black eyes and a face with small spikes. "Now, Ms. Relena, if you will come with me."
"She goes no where with you," Duo ground out as he put his gun away, knowing it would be useless.
The creature raised one eyebrow. "And why would you say that?"
"What is that… thing?" Relena asked, in horrified distaste.
"A Sle'lith," Duo replied distractedly, not taking his eyes off the demon.
This time, the demon raised both eyebrows. "A human that knows what I am."
"Just kill it and get me out of here!" Relena hissed imperially.
"Now, now, now, Ms. Relena. How are you ever going to achieve your true peace if you order beings you don’t understand killed?" The Sly'lith admonished in a mocking tone.
During the whole conversation, Duo had been working furiously trying to discover a way to get out of this situation without having to reveal his power to Relena. That was something he did not want to happen. Coming to a decision, he turned and punched Relena in the chin, sending her unconsious body crashing to the floor.
The demon took a step back in shock. "What…"
"Let us leave, and I won’t have to kill you," Duo replied, ignoring the unfinished question, his voice cold.
This caused the Sle'lith to throw his head back and laugh. "And, how will you kill me, little one? You do not have the weapons needed to kill one of my kind. Only blades dipped in silver and blessed by a holy man can kill us."
"That, or weapons forged by or for Gods," Duo replied with a manical grin. "And, gasp of shock, I happen to have one of those!"
More intrigued than scared, the demon gave Duo a closer look. "Yes, you carry the taint of magic on you. But… Well, isn’t this interesting. Non-human magic."
Giving a half bow, Duo replied. "I am Shinigami. Let us leave, or be destroyed."
"I think not, little boy. I tire of this game." The Sle'lith pulled a rod of metal from his cloak and pressed the middle. Soon, he was holding a staff with blades at one end. "I kill you, kill that fool girl, and receive my reward."
"Cute weapon. Watch this," Duo said, his maniacal grin becoming larger. Holding his hands in front of him as if he were holding a staff of his own, he took a deep breath, then let it out in a low scream. A few moments later, his hands glowed, and the glow began to leave his hands to form an outline of a weapon.
Oh, I bad.
But, look! I got another part done!
Need to look at this more often.
Basically, I have a general idea on what Duo can do, but I’m showing it only bit by bit.
And, I must say, cold cocking Relena was fun. I did so enjoy that!
