In the Dragonball universe, we have seen multiple fights between the forces of good and evil last episode upon episode upon episode! A multi-hour bloodbath, indeed. A well-known example: The fight between Freeza and Goku in Super Saiyajin form. Freeza said that the planet would blow up in five minutes, yet the fight between him and the Super Saiyajin took countless episodes! (How many was it, anyway? I need to go back and count...)

So, how is it possible to make five minutes drag on for hours? Actually, when I figured out one possibility, I literally smacked myself on the forehead because it was so simple. 

Almost all the fighters in the Dragonball universe can travel faster than normal humans, and some of them can move up to (or past) the speed of light for short distances. 

So, basically, the fight was 'slowed down' for us viewers. And, even then, it was sometimes too fast for us to see anything but blurs.

Theory #2: A Saiyajin's Hair

How do the Saiyajin keep their hair sticking up?

We all know that cats have a defense mechanism where their fur sticks on end to make themselves look bigger and stronger. What if the Saiyajin did the same?

According to the history of the Saiyajin, they never discovered technology by themselves, they just stole it and used it until it broke. They're a pretty barbaric race, all in all. So, it isn't all that unrealistic for them to have developed a racial characteristic for self-defence. (Defence against what, I have no idea...)

Sub Theory: Demi-Saiyajin Trunks and Bra

Why are Trunks and Bra's hair not the same color/texture as Goten and Gohan's? After all, all four had Saiyajin fathers.

We all know that a mixture of the parent's genes make up a child's looks. So, based on that, if Vegeta's 'hair' genes were dominated by Bulma's, well, there you go! The kids have Bulma's ancestor's hair (and eyes).
