The only person in the world who hasn't read a single word of Harry Potter. or seen the moives?
Update: Geeez! I guess I am... Heck, if even Steven has watched the movie, and is thinking of reading the books... What's a girl to do?
Posted by Ith at June 21, 2003 1:29 PMI've seen the first movie and read NONE of the books.
Posted by: Da Goddess on June 21, 2003 6:25 PMI missed the first wave of Potter fuss. I'm not into that sort of hype -- I may have let it drive me away from the things. But one day about a year ago I picked up Prisoner of Azkaban (no. 3). I was impressed enough to read the other four that were out at the time. I didn't watch the first movie until a few months ago. I rented it out on dvd. I found it charming as well. The works aren't earth-shatteringly wonderful, they won't change your life or anything, but they are fun reads and the first movie wasn't bad. I'll eventually rent out film number two, and at some point in the future pick up book 5, whatever it's called. But not now -- maybe when it comes out in paperback. I'm not in a hurry. If you want to know, so far I think Prisoner of Azkaban is the best of the series (that I have read).

Posted by: Andrea Harris on June 21, 2003 9:53 PMI think the hoopla kind of turned me off. It's not that I won't read them, it's just that there are so many other books waiting to be read, they're not a priority.
I think we actually own the DVD...? I'll have to rot around and see!
Posted by: Ith on June 21, 2003 10:13 PMYes, we own the DVD... Of both of the movies, if I'm not mistaken... Know we have at least the first one...
Posted by: Ninjababe on June 22, 2003 12:34 PMIf it makes you feel any better, you're not the only one: I have been studiously ignoring the whole Harry Potter phenomenon ever since it started.

Don't be fooled by their popularity: the books are wonderful.
Posted by: Nicholas Packwood on June 24, 2003 6:19 AMOh, all my friends tell me that :) I'll probably read them one of these years.
