Idle Thought

I was correcting an error over on a Gaggle post (grip was sposed to be gripe) and all of a sudden I remembered my grandmother used to call her purse a "grip". Anyone else ever hear that term used?

Never heard a purse called a grip, but that word has been used for a suitcase.... Remembering an old song called "Goofus" in which there's a line, "So I packed my grip and grabbed my saxophone..."

And this and 50 cents will get you tomorrow's newspaper. :)

Definition #4 at dictionary.com says a grip is a valise or suitcase. Guess some ladies' purses could be so described.... :)

No,I've heard clutch, but never grip. Nice that you thought of your Grandmother though :) And thanks for making me think of mine :)

I've heard clutch before as well. Grip must have been a thing she got being from the Prairies
