Over on Small Victory, Andrea made a comment that included "Forever Knight", which caused me to comment that FK is my "favorite show no one else has ever heard of". Until that moment, I hadn't thought of FK, the show that changed my life (literally), that way.
So, what's your "favorite show no one else has ever heard of"? Or, for that matter, "favorite movie/song/book no one else has ever heard of"
Hey, I have the flu, so sue me!
Posted by Ith at February 4, 2003 5:25 PMHm. I wouldn't say that it changed my life, but my favorite show that no one ever heard of (well, I'm sure lots of people have) was the 1980s Robin Hood series with Michael Praed (and later, with Jason Connery, though he couldn't hold a candle to The Praed, if you ask me).
Posted by: Andrea Harris on February 4, 2003 6:10 PMI loved that show! I still have the cassette with the soundtrack on it. A friend has a regionless DVD player and just got the DVDs of the series from the UK.
Posted by: Ith on February 4, 2003 6:17 PMI have the soundtrack on vinyl, and two of the episodes on vhs. I feel like popping them in right now.
Posted by: Andrea Harris on February 4, 2003 6:43 PMI credit the soundtrack with helping me discover Celtic music. I was at Norwescon many many years ago, and the dealer had other Clannad music, so I bought Fuaim, as well as the soundtrack, and so it began [g]
I haven't seen the series in years, and would love to see it again. I'll have to settle for Blake's 7, which is supposed to come out on DVD soon. My VHS, off the TV, tapes are just about dead.
Posted by: Ith on February 4, 2003 6:51 PMNothing that changed my life, but one of the songs I liked a lot in high school was "Hot Smoke and Sassafrass" by The Bubble Puppy.
I've only met one other person who ever heard of it.

Probably not my favorite show, but at least one that no one seems to have ever heard of was "The Edge." It was a comedy show on Fox back in the early/mid-90's, and was the first place where I saw the likes of now-famous folks like Jennifer Aniston and Wayne Knight (who went on to NBC sitcom fame) and Tom Kenny (voice of Spongebob, I believe), and tons of other really funny folks.
One of their funnier bits was "What is (fill in person/object/idea here) doing right this minute?" The thing I laughed the hardest at was when they said "What is 10% of a future hot dog doing right this minute?" and a rat ran across the screen...
As is the law of the universe, this hilarious sketch comedy show on a fledgling network bit the dust after about a season.
Posted by: Gretchen on February 5, 2003 9:07 AMOh, BTW, the "chnanged my life" thing was just random muttering on my part. No life changing is required to participate [g]
Posted by: Ith on February 5, 2003 9:37 AMGretchen, I think I heard of it, but never saw it. Sounds like it had potential. It must have, since it was canceled!
There was a variety show on last year, Wayne Brady from Whose Line, and it was only on for a few weeks, but there were a few skits they did that were some of the funniest stuff! Especially the BroJack skit. Wish I'd taped it, becuase it'll never see the light of day again.
